The best game analytics tools in 2026, compared

Mike Dalton By Mike Dalton ·

Several analytics dashboard cards side by side, with bar charts, line charts, and a table.

A game analytics tool collects events from your game, such as sessions, purchases, level completions, and match results, and turns them into reports about how players play. This guide compares nine of them on price, engine support, raw data access, and the kind of game each one fits best.

Prices and features were checked on the official pricing pages in October 2026.

How to choose a game analytics tool

Five questions narrow the list quickly:

  • What kind of game is it? Mobile free-to-play games need retention, monetization, and ad revenue reports (see which mobile game KPIs to track). Competitive games need win rates and balance reports. Live-service games need segmentation and live events.
  • Which engine and platforms do you ship on? An official SDK saves work. Check console support early, because few tools have it.
  • How is it priced? Tools charge per monthly active user (MAU), per event, or a flat monthly fee. A per-MAU price grows with your audience; a per-event price grows with how much you track.
  • Can you get your raw data out? If you plan to run your own queries later, check whether raw export is included or only available on a higher plan.
  • Are the reports built for games? General product analytics tools can track anything, but you build game reports such as progression funnels or win rates yourself.

GameAnalytics

GameAnalytics is an analytics suite built for games. It started in mobile free-to-play and now supports most engines, including Unity, Unreal, Godot, Roblox, GameMaker, Defold, Construct, and Cocos2D, plus open source JavaScript, C++, and C# SDKs and a REST collection API.

  • Pricing: the free tier has no MAU limit and includes dashboards and LiveOps tools. AnalyticsIQ Pro costs $49/mo and adds hourly data and performance monitoring. PipelineIQ, which adds a BigQuery warehouse and raw player-level export, starts at $499/mo.
  • Game reports: progression funnels, retention, cohorts by install date and source, in-app purchase and ad revenue, virtual currency, and A/B tests.
  • Limitations: raw data export is only available on PipelineIQ.

Unity Analytics

Unity Analytics is the analytics module of Unity Gaming Services. It is the default choice for a game built in Unity, and it includes audiences, A/B testing, and a SQL Data Explorer.

  • Pricing: free up to 50,000 MAU. Above that, Unity charges per MAU, starting at $0.0036 and dropping as your audience grows.
  • Engines: the SDK is for Unity only. Other engines can send events through the REST Collect API, but you write the batching and retry logic yourself, and events older than 31 days are rejected.
  • Raw data: Data Access shares raw events through Snowflake, which requires your own Snowflake account.
  • Recent changes: the legacy Unity Analytics product closed to new projects in June 2022 and shut down on February 2, 2024. Older tutorials that describe it no longer apply.

Google Analytics for Firebase

Firebase includes Google Analytics for apps, which is free and well suited to mobile games. It covers events, funnels, retention cohorts, audiences, and in-app purchase and AdMob revenue, but it has no game-specific reports.

  • Pricing: Analytics and A/B Testing are free on every plan. Since September 1, 2026, Remote Config is metered above 100,000 requests a day on the Blaze plan.
  • Engines: iOS, Android, Web, Flutter, Unity, and C++. There is no Unreal or console SDK.
  • Raw data: export to BigQuery, capped at 1 million events a day outside of Google Analytics 360.

devtodev

devtodev is a game analytics platform used by mid-size mobile and PC studios. It has gameplay, tutorial, economy, and monetization reports, plus cohorts, A/B tests, remote config, and anomaly detection.

  • Pricing: free up to 25,000 MAU, with 30 custom events and three months of raw data storage. The Basic plan starts at $33/mo per 10,000 MAU and adds SQL access and raw data export.
  • Engines: Unity, Unreal, Godot, iOS, Android, Web, Windows, and macOS.

Azure PlayFab

PlayFab is a game backend from Microsoft that covers player accounts, economy, multiplayer, and LiveOps. Its analytics come from PlayStream events and a Data Explorer that keeps 30 days of event history for every title.

  • Pricing: Development Mode is free for up to 1,000 lifetime players per title. After that, choose Pay-as-you-go ($0 base), Standard ($99/mo), or Premium ($1,999/mo), plus a charge per million events.
  • Engines: Unity, Unreal, C/C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, and REST. The C/C++ SDK covers Xbox, and PlayStation and Switch support is available on approval. There is no Godot SDK.
  • Recent changes: Microsoft retired the Insights Management API on March 31, 2026 and recommends Data Connections to Azure Data Explorer for raw data.

PlayFab has the strongest console support of any tool here. It is a good fit if you need a backend anyway, and more than you need if you only want reports.

Heroic Labs Satori

Satori is a LiveOps platform for live-service games. It combines an event pipeline with retention and funnel reports, audiences, experiments, feature flags, live events, and in-game messaging.

  • Pricing: from $600/mo, based on event volume, with no free tier.
  • Engines: Unity, Unreal, Godot, JavaScript, Java, Flutter, Swift, and Defold.
  • Raw data: export to Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, S3, or Databricks.

Heroic Labs also makes Nakama, an open source game server you can host yourself for free.

Mixpanel and Amplitude

Mixpanel and Amplitude are general product analytics tools. They are strong at funnels, retention, and segmentation, and they make sense if your studio already uses one of them for a website or app.

  • Pricing: Mixpanel is free up to 1 million events a month and Amplitude up to 2 million. Both charge per event above that.
  • Engines: both have a Unity SDK and neither has an Unreal SDK. Amplitude's Unity SDK supports only iOS and Android, so it does not fit a PC or WebGL game.
  • Limitations: there are no game-specific reports. You define progression, economy, and match events yourself and build every report from them.

Game Stats AI

Game Stats AI is built for games where balance matters: fighting games, card games, team shooters, and other match-based games. You send match results, achievement unlocks, and progression updates, and it builds reports such as win rate by character, win rate by map, and deck archetype performance, split by game version. It also reports daily and monthly active players, stickiness, D1, D7, and D30 retention, session length and daily playtime, and revenue from the purchase, subscription, ad, and other revenue events you send (ARPDAU, payer conversion, and ARPPU).

  • Pricing: free for 1,000 tracked records a month. Indie is $19/mo for 100,000, Studio is $49/mo for 1,000,000, and Pro is $149/mo for 5,000,000. See pricing for the full comparison.
  • Engines: there is no SDK. Your game or server sends JSON to the REST API from any engine. There are guides for Unity, Godot, and other engines and backends.
  • AI assistant: paid plans include an assistant that answers questions about your reports, and every plan includes an MCP server for AI tools such as Claude.
  • Limitations: no A/B testing or remote config, and no warehouse export. If those matter most, use one of the tools above, or use Game Stats AI alongside one.

Which game analytics tool should you use?

  • Mobile free-to-play game on a small budget: GameAnalytics or Firebase. Both have generous free tiers and cover retention and monetization.
  • Game built only in Unity: Unity Analytics, free up to 50,000 MAU.
  • Console release, or you need a game backend: Azure PlayFab.
  • Live-service game with a LiveOps team and budget: Heroic Labs Satori, or devtodev for a lower starting price.
  • You already run a data warehouse: a warehouse-native tool such as Mitzu (from $149/mo) queries the data you already have. To weigh running your own pipeline instead, see game analytics infrastructure: build or buy.
  • Competitive or match-based game where balance matters: Game Stats AI.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free game analytics tool?

Yes. GameAnalytics has no MAU limit on its free tier, Firebase Analytics is free, Unity Analytics is free up to 50,000 MAU, and devtodev is free up to 25,000 MAU. Game Stats AI is free for 1,000 tracked records a month.

What happened to Unity's legacy analytics?

Unity closed the legacy Unity Analytics product to new projects in June 2022 and shut it down on February 2, 2024. Its replacement is Unity Analytics in Unity Gaming Services, which uses a different SDK and a different pricing model.

Can I track win rates with a general analytics tool?

Yes, but you build the report yourself. You send a custom event for each match with the characters and the result, then calculate win rates per character and per version in a query or a custom report. Game Stats AI builds these reports for you from the match data you send.

Do I need an SDK to send game analytics?

No. Most tools also accept events over a REST API, which works from any engine or server. An SDK adds conveniences such as batching, offline storage, and automatic session tracking.
